Fate Patch 4

New patch up with through day 13. This week I was able to incorporate some of the line changes through day 11, though they're not exactly major. Thanks to Kotonoha for translating them. As always any QC help is appreciated.

Also starting with day 12 any removed lines have been marked for now instead of removed.

  1. When can we expect the scene on the 11th day "ruins in the forest" to be translated?
I also noticed that after that scene, in the begging of the interlude the old version had this line:
    http://img547.imageshack.us/img547/9020/wsco.png
did they remove it for the realta nua version?

    1. That's the H-scene alternate. I'm ignoring those and the lines related to them until everything is ready.

Also the missing line is my error so thanks.

    2. So how can I access the actual h-scene?

    3. I'll be adding them when I'm done inserting text.

    4. Ok, thanks!

  2. can you post a list of what lines were actually changed? Or are they really minor?

Those are the new lines. They're pretty minor though, yeah. There were also a large number of lines pruned but I can't really give a list of those.

    1. Yes. A lot of the line changes in RN are things being trimmed and/or condensed like that.

    2. oh so i shouldn't bug you with them then?
      one more: http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/4595/ertyc.png

    3. Also an RN change.

I think starting in day 14 I'll mark removed lines and remove them when I'm done inserting rather than right away.

  5. so should I report anything I find? I don't want to be wasting your time needlessly..

    1. Go ahead and report anything from day 11 or earlier. Better safe than sorry I suppose.

I uploaded a new patch that has removed lines marked for 12 and 13.

    3. For most of "2nd day: Breakfast - Morning in the Emiya household" Shirou's voice is muted for some reason. (Specifically, everything Shinji-related)

      Delete
    4. Hm. I just went through that scene and all of the voices played fine. Is it only the Shinji lines?

      Delete
    5. Yes. (Goes through it a second time.) Still no sound. (Messes with it some more) Okay, I figured it out. Shirou's voice was actually being muted, like it was supposed to be. I unmuted him, and now he's working normally. (For some reason, this's like the only scene where it actually matters what the settings are. Although I DID notice a line here and there that was also muted.

[Well, I'm only up to day three. Probably there are other scenes further down the line where it matters.]

  6. Then now we have the new lines of RN and the non RN lines will be erased? Thank you very much for your amazing job!

  7. Can I ask a random question? Why did Saber say she doesn't know the true name of the(new)"Archer"? Didn't she learn it in Fate/Zero?

    ReplyDelete
  8. No, Seiba don't learn de name of any acha in f/z.

  9. Hi Waku Waku. First THX for you for your great work!

In one of the previous posts you said "Most of the changes in the dialogue and narration will not be reflected.". I'd like to ask: Why not? I mean there probably is just a small number of changes so it shouldn't be that much of a problem to find someone to translate them (in this post you even mentioned Kotonoha translated some alread). Is there some other reason I don't see (like finding those changes)?

    ReplyDelete

    1. I guess that's outdated. At the time I wasn't planning on doing any changes, but things are different now.

      Delete
    2. Of course I don't mean translation of the H-alt scene at this point. Just the other changes in the game - F/Z related and such.

      Delete
    3. Oh... So you will be doing some of the chanes or all of them? If not all, why? :-)

      Delete
    4. I'll do whatever ones I find.

    5. Hmm... Are the texts from the original VN and the new games in some sort of similar format? If so, it shoudn't be so hard to write some program to find all of the changes. I'm a programmer myself so I probably could help with that if necessary. Or have you done sth like that already?

      Delete
    6. They're pretty much the same format, though the original VN's scripts were manually wordwrapped.

      Delete
    7. That's not much of a problem (as long as the formats are or can be converted to textual). So would such program help you in any way or do you have other means to find all of the changes?

      Delete
    8. Sure it would help. Right now I'm mostly just finding them when the line(s) they replace is commented out.

      Delete
    9. Ok, I'm not familiar with the internal structure of the VN files. So could you send me the files with texts from the old VN and new games by e-mail (enumaggmailcom) or a guide where can I find them in the xp3 files? I'll see what I can do when I have the time.

    10. Not sure if I understand. You want to compare FSN 2004 Japanese scripts with Realta Nua japanese scripts?
Not sure this is a good idea. To me it looks like they are quite different to produce some precise results automatically. http://db.tt/W0qaiCYm
English scripts on the other hand look a lot more like Realta Nua. (As long as you remove horrible word-wrapping >__<) http://db.tt/oyKWwDEi But obviously in this case you can't compare it automatically, only by eyes.

Personally when I was thinking if I want to work on this project, I was planning to extract text only from English and RN scripts (using python+regex), match English line numbers/positions to Japanese and then merge English lines into complete Japanese script. But this still doesn't solves the issue with changed text. And when text was changed I was planning to simply copy Japanese lines so that it can be translated later. That obviously not possible while keeping wordwrap as it's not human-readable.

      P.S.
Speaking of word-wrapping, that looks like this http://pastebin.com/hRdJJbqY I am surprised WakuWaku decided to keep it in his patch. IMO this wat of word-wrapping was ok in year 2006 when we had no proper ways of doing it, not in 2013...

      Delete
    11. By extracting only text and matching lines i meant something like this. Make sure that A perfectly matches B then merge each non-empty line from A to C

      b) http://db.tt/Sf1XSPkx

    12. BTW If I'll have time, maybe, just maybe (I haven't tried yet), I can implement so called "proper" wordwrap that dpesn't involves adding anything to the actual sctipts and supply mirrormoon scripts cleaned from insani's wordCrap. Tell me if you're interested.

      Delete
    13. I'm interested as long as it could also be applied to the original PC version, since I'm going to be using the RN scripts for that as well.

      Delete
    14. It should work with any VN on kirikiri engine...
But not sure if I understand what do you mean by "since I'm going to be using the RN scripts for that as well."
Are you saying that at some point you'll try to use RN scripts to continue your previous project?
"clean" mirrormoon scripts should with original PC if I'll add wordwrap there too. Though unlike RB, it may require undoing of any additional harm that they made to implement wordwrap.

I'll mail you stuff when I'll have something.

P.S. (not related to anything above)
Do you (or anyone reading this blog) know any kirikiri function that can refresh screen, change layer order or something? RealtaNua PC have some bug that prevents me from changing screen resolution - last image of whatever was shown before switch freezes and sits on top of menu and everything. Changing to fullscreen fixes it though...

      P.P.S
damn why I always post in the wrong section...

    15. Oh BTW in what character encoding you want to have scripts? since original ANSI, mirrormoon Unicode and kirikiri doesn't cares...

    16. "Are you saying that at some point you'll try to use RN scripts to continue your previous project?"

      Yes.

"Oh BTW in what character encoding you want to have scripts?"

      Unicode I guess.

    18. Waku Waku, check mail. there should be something with title about Realta Nua.

Enumag, I still don't really understand what you want to achieve. The difference between scripts is huge. In most of the scripts 4 lines became one, some lines changed in the middle, some at the end, code around text is different too. Anyway, any fixes need a translator, but then it's just easier for him to proof-read the scripts once and for all by having English and Realta Nua Japanese scripts opened side by side. Then translator can proceed with adjsting lines by himself which then will be merged, or create something in format below, and we use program that will crawl through the scripts replace strings...
      ----------
      [line5]気が付けば、焼け野原にいた。
[line5]When I came to, I was in a burning field.

Some other line that needs replacement[l][r]

    19. @MeruP: I want to compare tha japanese scripts of both games to provide Waku Waku an easy way to find all the changes in the text, ignoring any other changes in the code, line-wrapping and such. Is it worth the effort in your opinion?

      Delete
    20. Enumag, In this case wordwrapping is not an issue, Japanese scripts don't have it. I'm sure it is possible to ignore code too. I'm more concerned about what actual data that you'll gather will look like.
Here is 2 example scripts, same ones I used for screenshot I posted before:
      http://db.tt/TWR4nNQ7 <-- original FSN
      http://db.tt/364oS5Ly <-- realta nua
Can you make of it something that won't produce thousands of results where lines are the same but with different formatting or thousands of false-positives? Editor will have to make multiple corrections to almost every script anyway, so I don't really see how [software finds every little change -> tell about it to WakuWaku -> he'll make someone translate it -> then puts it back] is easier than for someone simply read through it and correct "in-place". In the mean time IMHO leaving some lines "inaccurately" translated is good enough.
Anyway, if you feel like it, feel free to play with example scripts. But don't go too far as there may be more complicated cases, I just took something that was at hand.

      Delete
    21. @MeruP: Yes I'm well aware of the issues you mentioned. That's exactly why I said I don't know if I will be able to get any good results. Output with many false-positives would be pretty much useless. By the way if it works the translater probably could use my results himself (without Waku Waku) which would speed up the process.

  10. Hey, WakuWaku. You probably saw my post but I think you should check an Edit I made just now. This is probably also true for your patches and they should not be installed into main directory.
Looks like they changed autoload rules, I'll review them later...
